Biography: Dr. Wagner da Nova Mussel works as Associate Professor at the University of Minas Gerais - UFMG, Minas Gerais state in Brazil, has completed his Ph.D. at the age of 28 years from the same university and Trinity College of Dublin, postdoctoral studies in polymorphism. He has 30 years of experience in the field of applied X-ray diffraction in the university and collaborations with industry. Have more than 100 publications among papers in reputed journals and expanded abstracts in congresses, been serving as a reviewer in several specialized journals. Have conducted applied research in the thermal behavior of active pharmaceutical ingredients aim to contribute with the necessary knowledge of polymorphic speciation and characterization, implying in better efficiency and safety of use.

Research Interest:  He has experience in the field of Chemistry with emphasis in Trace Analysis and Environmental Chemistry, working mainly in characterization, quantification and refinement of crystalline structure by X-ray diffraction, kinetic physicochemistry, Ferruginous minerals applied to catalysis and Mössbauer spectroscopy, characterization and polymorphic drug interactions.

Dr. Guertin has 30 years of experience in spinal cord research and 18 years of experience in science leadership. He was President and CEO of NeuroSpina Therapeutics between 2005 and 2008 as well as Chief Scientific Officer of Eurymedon HealthCare during the same period. During 8 years, he acted as President and CEO of Nordic Life Science Pipeline Inc. He is currently developing next-generation pharmaceutical, healthcare and skincare products for people with CNS trauma, paralysis and mobility impairment due to aging or disease. Over the years, he has obtained 5.5 million dollars in financing from not-for-profit public agencies and private foundations to conduct animal research (rodents), drug development and clinical studies. He has developed a cutting-edge expertise in spinal cord injury and aging, metabolic problems, urogenital and bowel problems, and musculoskeletal/dermatological degradation. He holds positions as Full Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Neurosciences (Université Laval, 2001 - present) as well as Director and Principal Investigator of the Spinal Cord Injury and Functional Recovery Laboratory (2002 – present, Laval University Medical Center, Quebec). As a leading scientist, he is author and co-author of more than 175 publications (articles, reviews, book chapters, patents, etc.) since 1990. He acts also as editorial board member (32 international journals), referee and reviewer for granting agencies such as CIHR, NSERC, and FRSQ. Among several breakthrough findings made in his laboratory, his main accomplishment remains undoubtedly the discovery in 2004 and the development from bench-to-bedside of the first oral drug ever, SpinalonTM, capable of reactivating spinal locomotor neurons and eliciting basic walking activity in paralyzed animals and patients.

Biography: Dr. Yavuz Selim Silay is the Co-Founder & CEO of MAIN(MaQasid Angel Investors Network) & chairman of Istanbul Consulting Group. MAIN(MaQasid Angel Investor Network) is one the fast growing global angel investment groups . ICG(Istanbul Consulting Group) which was founded in 2013 and provided guidance to the Turkish ministry of health as part of a World Bank project.Yavuz is currently the Co-Founder of BioCube ?stanbul Bioentrepreneurship & Innovation Center and Corporate Communication Director of Archem Diagnostics. He previously managed the largest distributor of Siemens Healthcare in Turkey managing 250 employees and director of Avc?lar Hospital R&D Center, Chief Medical Officer of Lifematrix GmbH. Previously he worked as the Market Access & Health Policy Director for AIFD in Turkey.

Yavuz previously worked as the Vice President of Ipsen pharmaceutical and Director of Teva pharmaceutical in USA managing large clinical trials as well as Investigator Initiated Trials and developing relationships with Key Opinion Leaders. Previously, Yavuz was the Associate Director at KV Pharmaceuticals and Director in Clinical Development department at Forest Laboratories

Yavuz earned his MD from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ankara in Ankara, Turkey. He completed a clinical internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by continued research training at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He recently completed his Executive MBA at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. Yavuz currently resides with his wife Dr. Kamile S?lay and their two daughters and one son in Ankara,Turkey.

Research Interest: Interaction with FDA. Development of generic and branded regulatory strategic plans for new product development, life cycle management of marketed products. Evaluation of potential products & in-licensing opportunities. Participate in all aspects of clinical development & study management, providing scientific, medical, and logistical direction and support to studies.Clinical development in CNS/Pain Managing Phase 2-4 clinical trials
